It is Valentine’s Day, which is the perfect day for another announcement regarding the second NASTA conference, which takes place on May 20th, 2022 (CEST). We are excited to share that the Call for Papers is now open!
This year, the one-day online conference is organised with one main overarching theme: Breaking the mould: Smashing Stereotypes of grand archaeological narratives. The conference will centre around rewriting outdated (grand) archaeological narratives and conveying inclusive and diverse stories, through new perspectives, non-traditional outlets, and bottom-up approaches.
We invite contributors to submit papers that deal with theories, thoughts, and themes that break with traditional narratives. We would like to encourage creative and original ideas and perspectives, be it big or small.
We anticipate that there will be a maximum of 12 speakers. Individual speakers will be allowed 15 minutes to present their paper.
NASTA aims to provide a space for young professional archaeologists and archaeology students to develop their academic skills and career, therefore we highly encourage archaeology students as well as students from other disciplines to apply. The selected papers are eligible for publication as part of a peer-reviewed volume edited by NASTA.
Be advised that the conference will be recorded and that these recordings will be shared publicly after the conference has ended. If your paper is selected for the conference, we will contact you for permission to publish your presentation. Should you wish to opt-out of the video publication please let us know and we will edit out your presentation.
Please submit your abstract (max. 250 words) before the end of April 17th to: nastarchaeology@gmail.com (original deadline was April 10th, this was extended to April 17th).
